Gonana's Foodie Friends

In Paternoster, food is more than a meal, it’s part of the rhythm of the village. At Gonana Collection, we believe that where you eat should be just as memorable as where you stay. That’s why we love sharing our favourite Paternoster restaurants with you, our trusted “foodie friends” who bring flavour, heart, and authenticity to every plate.

Insider tip: Paternoster may feel like a hidden gem, but it’s a popular destination, especially during weekends and peak seasons. We highly recommend making reservations in advance. We’d hate for you to miss out on the incredible dining experiences waiting just a short stroll from your stay.

The Noisy Oyster

One of the most loved restaurants in Paternoster - and for good reason. Like us, it is proudly gay-owned (Pieter and Gustav) and run, creating a warm, inclusive space where everyone feels instantly at ease. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed - think 30 Seconds cards placed on tables to help get those conversations going - with friendly, attentive staff who turn every meal into something personal.

Gaaitjie Restaurant

Searching for a restaurant in Paternoster with a view? Gaaitjie is hard to beat. Set directly on the rocks, this iconic spot offers uninterrupted ocean vistas where you can also watch the fishermen go out. There’s a charm to Gaaitjie that feels almost cinematic, reminiscent of the coastal warmth and character of the British Series Doc Martin. The menu celebrates the best of the West Coast and one of our personal favourites is the seared tuna - let us know what you think!

Dispens

Run by the mother of renowned chef Kobus van der Merwe of Wolfgat fame, Dispens carries a legacy of exceptional food and heartfelt hospitality (talk about a foodie family)! Dispens is more than a restaurant, it’s a story woven into the fabric of Paternoster. The building itself has lived many lives, from a shark liver oil factory to the beloved Die Winkel op Paternoster, a humble general dealer known to locals as Oep ve Koep (“open for business”).

De Seekat Restaurant

Sitting right by the water, it combines laid-back seaside charm with a menu that celebrates the best of the ocean. We feel that their sushi is the freshest in Paternoster, so if sushi is what you crave this is where you need to book. Whether you’re popping in for a relaxed lunch or settling in for dinner with a view, the setting is as much a part of the experience as the food itself.
